Bargaining Unit

The Tuition Reimbursement Plan for Bargaining Unit Members covers undergraduate credit and non-credit courses not available through the university for career development.

Eligibility

If you are a bargaining unit member, you become eligible for this benefit once you have completed 90 calendar days of full-time employment and continue in a full-time position.

About the Plan

Reimbursement will be made for 100% of tuition for courses taken outside JHU that are not available through the university. The courses must promote or enhance your career development. You must obtain university approval prior to taking a course. Courses taken for academic credit must be successfully completed with a grade of "C" or above; non-credit courses require proof of attendance. Audited courses are not eligible for reimbursement.

The maximum reimbursement is $500 per calendar year for both credit and non-credit courses. If you also participate in the Tuition Remission Plan, use your benefits wisely, as the combined reimbursement you may receive from both of these plans is $5,250.

To Participate

After you complete the eligible course, fill out and return the Tuition Reimbursement Plan Application For Bargaining Unit Members to the Benefits Service Center along with copies of your tuition and fees, receipt and grade report(s). If the course is non-credit, you will need to provide proof of successful completion (attendance). You must submit your reimbursement request within 60 days of completing the course. The Benefits Service Center will review and approve reimbursement for all eligible costs, and payment will be made directly into your paycheck.
